When Flash Player and AIR v26.0 got officially released in June 13
I was expecting to see also the AIR WIN64 ADK to be updated
but no, it was staying at "64 bit AIR 25 SDK & Compiler Beta – Captive apps only (Windows)"
Only recently it version number got bumped up on Adobe labs
"64 bit AIR 26 SDK & Compiler Beta – Captive apps only (Windows)"
here the new short release notes
64 Bit AIR for Windows Extended Beta Release Notes
We are delighted to share our Windows 64-bit AIR beta SDK for public testing. This SDK can be used to create 64 bit captive and shared AIR
applications. Unlike MacOS, we will continue to support 32 and 64-bit operating systems on Windows.
The SDK can be downloaded from https://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/labs/flashruntimes/air/win64SDK/AIRSDK_Compiler.zip and the instructions to get started can be found below. As noted above, this build is in a beta state and before starting we encourage you to go through the known issues listed below.
Please report any issues found to our public bug database: https://tracker.adobe.com.
Overlaying instructions for Flash Builder:
ActionScript Projects: https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-builder/kb/overlay-air-sdk-flash-builder.html
Flex Project: https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/how-overlay-air-sdk-flex-sdk.html
- Issues with bitmaps and BitmapData, color bands and artefacts are present when scaled to a certain ration
- Various cases of SWF loading in HTML fail on AIR 64 bit Windows
- Loading HTML from Internationalized Domain Name fails on 64-bit AIR
- placeLoadStringContentInApplicationSandbox not working in AIR
NOTE: We do not plan on supporting DRM video in 64-bit applications.
It seems that 64 bit ANE are not anymore an issue
it can be downloaded from here
I'm not sure why but Adobe seems reluctant to communicate about this AIR SDK 64 bit,
they don't answer questions about it on the forums, they don't announce it when they update it,
to be honest I kind of pushed away to build with it and support it (on my side for my own stuff)
because it all seemed that this SDK may become "not supported" at anytime ...
but ... seeing what is said in the release note
This SDK can be used to create 64 bit captive and shared AIR applications.
Unlike MacOS, we will continue to support 32 and 64-bit operating systems on Windows.
and in the download page
The following downloads provide the AIR 26 SDK & Compiler beta for creating 64 bit captive apps.
With this beta of the AIR SDK & Compiler, you are now allowed to distribute and test captive runtime versions of your AIR applications so you can publish immediately to marketplaces, such as the iOS App Store, the Android Market and the Amazon Appstore. We recommend you update your applications with the GM build when it is available.
Obviously we don't care about iOS/Android/Amazon stores for 64 bit Windows app,
but that do mean it should be possible to publish 64 bit Windows AIR app for something like UWP
(Universal Windows Platform), eg. the Windows Store.
This AIR 64 bit Windows SDK is still in beta but it does seem it is on its way to be officially supported/published by Adobe in the long run.
